Ebola Virus: Uganda has Ended the Ebola Epidemic



Uganda has announced the end of the Ebola epidemic on yesterday, Wednesday, 4 months after its outbreak which killed 55 people in parts of the country, a step that comes after the WHO itself announced that the disease was under control. It is reported that Uganda's Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng in his speech during the meeting to announce the end of the disease today in Mubende region said that the country has successfully controlled the disease that broke out in September.

The World Health Organization, WHO has confirmed the success of ending the disease where its president Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is praising the efforts of the East African country regarding the steps it has taken to quickly end the epidemic. During his speech, Minister Aceng said today 11th of January marks 113 days since the outbreak of the disease which spread in parts of Kampala city.

Under the rules of the World Health Organization, if there are 42 days without a new case of Ebola in the country that is suffering from its epidemic, then the spread of the disease has been successfully stopped. 142 people were infected by Ebola, 55 died and 87 recovered, including children, The Ebola virus this time was declared as Sudanese type which is very dangerous until now there is no vaccine even though there are 3 pharmaceutical companies currently working on the vaccine.
