Nigerians buy a liter of petrol for 257.12 Naira - NBS



The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said the average price of fuel purchased by citizens increased from N166.40 in January 2022 to N257.12 in January 2023, this is contained in the research report on fuel prices for January 2023 which was released in Abuja on Tuesday.

The report said that the January 2023 price showed an increase of 54.52 percent compared to its January 2022 price of N166.40. “Comparing the average price with the previous month of December 2022, the average price of oil increased by 24.70 percent from N206.19.

He said based on the analysis of the state data, Imo has the highest price of fuel at N332.14, followed by Rivers and Akwa Ibom at N327.14 and N319.00, respectively. In contrast, Sokoto state has the lowest fuel price at 191.43 Naira, followed by Plateau at 192.14 and Borno at 193.91.

Analysis from the zone showed that the South-East region had the average price in January 2023 at N307.85, while the North-Central region had the lowest at N217.15.
